CK One 3-in-1 Foundation Review

While in Ulta this past week, I passed by the Calvin Klein makeup collection and realized that I had never heard anything about their products! Out of pure curiosity and in an attempt to establish an overall quality for all who are interested, I picked up their 3-in-1 liquid foundation. This particular product had me interested just by its packaging!

IT'S A FREAKING PILL

I had no idea what to expect out of this product due to it being described on the box as, "Suitable for all skin types," so I applied it with my fingertips then blended using my kabuki. I needed one pump to give myself a light coverage, but ended up needing some concealer and an extra pump of the product to help cover any discoloration. So I would say that this is somewhat similar to a BB cream. I set it all with a light dusting of powder (see below).

THE EXPERIENCE

MY BARE FACE (viewer discretion advised)

Immediately After Application: see the light/medium coverage? My blemishes are not covered completely. I only used concealer under my eyes to hide the ugly purpling.

Two Hours After Application: There are slight signs of oil on my nose, forehead, and chin, but nothing severe.
Four Hours After Application: My face is very oily. The foundation has stayed well blended and even despite my oily appearance.
*The photos above were taken by G, my sister.

NOTICE: I did not use any powder to touch up my makeup throughout the day in order to see how the foundation does on its own on my naturally oily skin.

As you can see, after just 4 hours, this foundation has served me poorly in terms of oil control, but considering it wasn't clear what to expect from the product, I was fairly pleased. Let me tell you why.
When rating foundation, I consider the application and "blendability" as a large portion of the product's overall ability to please me. If you look at the "Immediately After Application" photo, my skin looks noticeably better than it did in the before photo. You can literally see the soft, blendable, silkiness of the product on my skin! The foundation feels wonderful during application, completely weightless afterward, and dries nicely after allowing just enough time to blend. On top of all that, you have to consider the awesomeness that you practically just dispensed foundation from a chic black and white pill!
The product has an SPF of 8 (so no, it should not be used as sunscreen unless exposure to the sun is minimum during usage) and is supposedly a serum, primer, and foundation in one, but considering I rarely use a serum or a primer, I am unable to attest to it classifying as either.

After considering that those with oily skin can touch up with powder, the Calvin Klein 3-in-1 Foundation would truly be suitable for all skin types. It is moisturizing enough to use with a light external moisturizer beforehand for dry skin, easily retouched for oily skin, and positively perfect for normal skin.
At right around 30$ it is worth a try for the adventurous splurger, but can be easily replaced by something similar such as Maybelline's BB Cream for those wanting to save their money.

If you were wondering what powder I used I am happy to announce that it is Maybelline's FIT ME powder. I am extremely pleased by this powder after using it for the past month to set my foundation and control my oil throughout the course of the day! It gets the job done!

I would suggest this product to anyone and everyone who needs a compact powder that they can count on!
