Chanel Rouge Coco Baume Review

During last September, I bought Chanel's lip balm! I was very excited to try this product because when I was in Chicago, I had heard that it was very hydrating and was a very intensive dry lips treatment from the very nice woman who helped me at the Chanel Boutique and was ready to put these claims to the test! I headed to my nearest Dillard's and purchased it with a huge smile on my face!

The Rouge Coco Baume packaging

When I arrived at home, I un-boxed the tube and just sat there, looking at its black and gold shiny exterior, just soaking the beauty in. I finally decided that I should actually try it when I woke up the next morning and realized that I had marveled at the packaging without even trying the product. When I applied the balm to my lips, I felt ROYAL. The balm went on very smoothly, had a nice, shiny finish, and was not at all gummy, sticky, or heavy on my lips!
Later in the day I realized that the balm had worn off and that I needed another coat. This was saddening because I had payed so much for the beauty and hydration of the product, but it soaked in so quickly that it left my lips parched... WANTING MORE. Here I am, about 4-5 months later, and the product is almost gone! I enjoyed many things about the product such as...
- Smooth consistency
- Shiny finish
- Lightweight feel on lips
- Beautiful packaging
- Little to no scent or flavor

But, sadly, the cons are way too important to the overall product that I will not be purchasing it again. These include...
- High price (30 US $)
- Short period of coverage
- Dry lips still evident after usage
- Parched feel after soaking into lips

Sorry, Chanel. I am hoping to see a better balm from you in the future!

  1. Thanks for the review. I'll probably give it a try anyway, since I can't resist the allure of the double C. Also wanted to encourage you to keep blogging. You have a great voice for beauty reviewing. L.

    1. Thanks for the feedback, L! I just bought the Urban Decay Shadow Primer, Chanel Raffinement Quad, and CK One Foundation and will be reviewing them soon. And I must agree. The Chanel logo is super enticing and has made me buy so many of their products.

    2. I concur.

I've literally dropped brands because of their aesthetic choices and colour schemes. I won't say any names *cough* GUCCI *cough*. As an art student I've learned to embrace the sheer minimalism that CHANEL provides for the eye.
