Covergirl Aqua CG Smoothers Foundation Review

Recently, due to the crazy "Polar Vortex", my skin has been extra dry, so I have been searching for new options of foundation that cater to my new skin type. At CVS, the other day, I stumbled across this little bottle in the Covergirl section with the word AQUA on it. Intrigued, I glanced at the back of the bottle, and was sold at the description of "continually hydrates skin for 11 hours" and bought it immediately.

The product is a very low-coverage, semi-luminous foundation ideal for normal to combination skin.

Results
This foundation is very thin. It is nice for days when you don't want to slather creamy fluid across your face but want to cover major discoloration. I would compare this to a "your lips but better" lipstick. The results of this foundation keep marks that make your face distinct visible, but blurred.

Truthfulness
The description provided on the back of the bottle holds true only to an extent. It says, "Continually hydrates for 11 hours (FALSE), helping skin look smooth and naturally beautiful (true). -Fragrance Free (FALSE, though there is very little) -Won't clog pores (true) -Dermatologically Tested". In fact, I would say that this foundation is not moisturizing at all!

Experience
The foundation does show facial oils throughout the day (even when set with powder), but in a different way than most other foundations. The natural oils your face emits throughout the day are absorbed by the foundation and give off a luminous glow instead of a blinding shine. Until around 4-6 hours after application, retouching powder is unnecessary!

Overall, I like this product fairly well! It makes me feel like a goddess, the way it makes me glow! One of the things, however that makes this product not as great as it could be is my color's tendency to lean slightly warmer than what it appears to be straight from the bottle. I got the lightest shade in the range with rosy undertones, Ivory 705. I am considering trying Classic Ivory 710, which seems to be a bit less rosy on Covergirl's website.

  Pros:
-Lightweight feeling
-Luminous
-Blurs imperfections without hiding them
-Low Price ($5.09 - $6.99 at Target)

  Cons:
-Tends to cling to dry patches (moisturize well before to avoid!)
-Reddens on face upon application
-Bottle LIES!

*The setting powder I would HIGHLY suggest using for this product is Maybelline's FIT Me powder foundation! This powder is luminous and lasting, just like the foundation! Together, they make a fantastic team!
