Fall 2013

Many of you may have been wondering this past week or so why I have not posted anything new. This is merely due to the fact that I was SUPER busy trying to get everything ready for my Fall 2013 photo shoot! Here you go!

This collection was inspired by a couple different things. One of these things is the Wicca. The Wicca is a group of people who practice a modern-day version of witchcraft as their religion. I was very inspired by the sense that I get from the Wicca that they are sort of a combination and/or incorporate aspects of many different religions. I played with this by having the model, Helen wear a rosary around her neck. This would naturally be seen by the catholic church as using a tool for prayer as adornment, which is where I brought in the sense that the Wicca use what they believe about other religions, combining them into something that they believe whole-heartedly.
I also incorporated, playing off on a tangent of The Wicca, the idea that magic is destructively desirable. It is something that us, being humans, are naturally drawn to with interest. I wanted to make a statement with this collection about the danger of giving yourself to the supernatural. I did this by comparing it to a highly addictive drug, such as heroin, by incorporating high collars and ties around the arms of the model to show a sense that she is trapped. I wanted people to feel that beneath her beautiful image, there is something wrong or hurt (notice the grey contouring-hinting at starvation, and how I set this shoot in a dilapidated area). I wanted people's first impression to these photos to be that this is a beautiful girl wearing unconventional clothing in a very haute couture manner, but the longer one looks at them, the more they get a sense that this girl is more than what she may seem, and come to this realization by noticing the quite horrific features of this shoot overall.

I feel it is necessary to credit those who helped me with this shoot. Without them, none of this would have been possible!
